COMPOSITION OF THE RELAYS:

The race is "OPEN"

The 4 members can indifferently belong to different age categories.

Each team must be made up of four athletes, of which at least three belong to the same sports association/club. Registrations are accepted only for teams, it will not be possible to register individually.

Each Italian competitor must be in possession of a valid medical certificate of competitive activity.

For foreign athletes, a certificate of sport fitness is required.

All athletes who have reached the age of 18 on the date of the event can participate.

The mixed relay, made up of two women and two men, will face the race with the sequence

fixed: woman / man / woman / man.

Each team will be identified with a number. The fraction holders will be identified with a letter (Ex.

1A – 1B – 1C – 1D. The starting order must be progressive, from letter A to letter D,

following the woman / man criterion of the previous paragraph.

THE ROUTE:

4 X 2,000 m: equal to 5 laps of the 400 m track, for each competitor.

USE OF STICKS:

The use of nordic walking poles with a round tip is mandatory: however, at the choice of the competitor, the use of rubber tips is allowed, but always applied to sticks with a round tip.

START  AND CHANGOVER  ZONE:

The start is a “ Mass Start “ all  first legs will start at the same time.

The 3 external lanes of the athletics track will be dedicated exclusively to the changeover zone  positioned after the finish line (20 meters long): in this area it will not be possible to run or hinder opponents. The 3 internal lanes (those defined as rope lanes) will only be used as a race course.

PASSING THE WITNESS:

At the end of each leg of the race, the athlete will pass the "witness" to his teammate “ receiver “ in charge of the next leg, which consists of a Velcro bracelet containing the microchip, helping him to put it on his right or left arm.

Only the receiver will position himself in the exchange area waiting for the deliverer; once the exchange has taken place, the deliverer will have to quickly leave the competition area, avoiding to hinder the other relay runners, going to position himself in the reserved area.

The receiver, at the end of the changeover zone indicated above, must immediately implement the correct technique.

DROPPING THE BRACELET:

If the athlete's bracelet falls off during the course, he must stop, without hindering the runners of the other teams, pick up and reposition the bracelet and resume the interrupted movement immediately after.

THE COMPETITION FIELD:

Only the athletes of the teams participating in the relay can stay on the field, in the areas specifically reserved for them. The coaches and trainers are not allowed to enter.

PENALTY

ONWF Nordic Walking Rules and Regulations is applied for the evaluation of the technique . A 15-second penalty will be applied to each yellow card: The penalty imposed on the individual athlete  will fall on the overall time of his team.

RED CARD

The athlete who runs, hinders the opponents, demonstrates lack of fair play (misconduct), insults referees or competitors, will be punished with the red card.
